Day 10

WEDNESDAY 22nd

Now we have reached our last day before we are going to fly back home. So we met around nine o'clock at the railway station and went by train to London. It took us around one and a half hours to get to Liverpool Street. When we arrived, we run a little competition. We had to get into small groups in order to get to Green Park station by ourselves. So as to get there, we had to take the underground. Luckily all of us got there without any problems. When we were complete, we went to Buckingham Palace where it was very crowded. We saw a lot of cameramen, who expect the message that the second child of Prince William and his wife Kate will be born. Because nothing interesting happened there, we walked over to Trafalgar Square. At the Square we only took some pictures and moved on really quickly because we wanted to have a longer lunch break.
One of the highlights of our stay was the visit of the famous musical "The Lion King" at the Lyceum Theatre. All of us really enjoyed the musical. It finished around five o'clock, so we had still some time to go to Covent Garden. There it was quite nice because there were lots of buskers. The only problem was that most of us weren't able to buy something because we all were running out of money. However, around six o'clock we started our trip back to the host families. The rest of the evening we spent with packing our suitcases. All in all we enjoyed our day, although it was very long.

Last trip to London
Today we got up at six o'clock because we didn't want to be late at the railwaystation where we should have been at 8:50. It took us 90 minutes to get to Liverpool Street station in London. There the teachers split us up into three groups because we had to do a tube-race from Liverpool Station to Greenpark, which we all managed well.

Then we went through the park to watch the Changing of the Guards in front of Buckingham Palace, but there were too many people so we weren't able to see anything. The only thing we saw was the flag on the top of the palace. It is hoist when the Queen is in London. There we several camera teams lingering around too because of the baby Kate is expecting. Many of us got very hungry so our teachers released us at Leicester Square where many big movies have their opening night.
Our next stop was the Lyceum Theatre, there we saw the Lion King, a very professional and emotional play with wonderful costumes and songs. Accordingly they gave us an hour to go shopping at Covent Garden where many expensive boutiques are, which were out of our price range, because we had already spent our whole money the days before.
So we said goodbye to London and went by train back to Cambridge. Sitting together with our classmates on the train was the perfect ending of our trip. In Cambridge all of us went home straight, but we had to wait for the "citi 8" bus. We and Luca, Christian, Sophia and Ines enjoyed our last bus ride but we were also very sad because we all knew it was our last route together. At nine o'clock we, Sophia and Ines went to a small supermarket called "Tesco", where we had been everyday to buy some food. When we went home from the supermarket we realised that we're going to miss England very much.
