TASK SHARING

The GRANTA Punt

Today was our fifth day of our language trip in Cambridge.
We met at half past 10 in front of a little pub called “The Mill”.

The teachers collected our homework and gave us some instructions on the order

of things. Then we started to do a walk to Grantchester on a narrow footpath.

We crossed the beautiful countryside of Cambridge with a lot of trees and meadows.

After a walk of 45 minutes we arrived at “Orchard Tea Gardens”. It was a

big garden with a lot of tables and deckchairs in it, and there Mr. Bucher generously invited us to some tea.

After a break of almost two hours, we finally walked back to Cambridge and to the punting station where started our punting adventure. We split up into groups of 6 and then we had one hour free to try to navigate our boat with a long wooden stick and a small paddle along the river Cam.Though it was very difficult,it was great fun but unfortunately nobody fell into the water. Except a few accidents, like nearly losing the stick or crashing into each other, no-one got hurt.

After all, it was a really exciting day and a remarkable experience.

Today we met at 10:30 at the end of Mill Lane where
some of the students were late. From there, we did a short walk for
nearly an hour to the Orchard Tea Garden. When we arrived at the garden, we
saw many little tables with four seats per table. The surroundings were
very nice because there were many trees and bushes in blossom. Mr. Bucher
was so kind to invite us to a cup of tea. The tea was quite good, but very hot. On the way back to Cambridge we walked along the river Cam where there were a lot of midges. We took another way back soit took us only half an hour. As we arrived at the punting station, we
had to wait 45 minutes. Then we split up into groups of six for one boat. We were allowed to punt on the river Cam by ourselves. It was quite difficult because it's hard
to navigate these boats. We steered the boats with a stick and a small paddle. Many boats hit the wall, but fortunately nobody fell in the water. An hour later we went back home. Some did, but others stayed in town to go shopping. In the evening we all got back to our host families and had dinner.
