Day 9

CAMBRIDGE DAY

KINGS COLLEGE CHAPEL AND GUILDHALL

EC School Teachers

Guildhall

of Cambridge

Yesterday after we had woken up and had had breakfast, we went to the bus in a hurry to get to our morning classes in EC-school, which is something like a language course we had to attend throughout our journey. Afterwards we had 2 hours of free time - we had lunch and went shopping. Then our group leaders decided to visit the city council. A person who worked there showed us all the important rooms, e.g. the mayor's room. It was very interesting. After that we had some more free time for 2 hours, so we were able to buy souvenirs for our family and friends. Then we went to King's College to attend the Evensong in King’s College Chapel. Later we hung out with some friends and had dinner in the city. Finally, we took the bus back home and did some exercises before we went to bed.

Today the 21st April we had our last real day in Cambridge. We got up at 6:30 and left the house at 8:15.Then we met up at 8:55 in front of the EC-school where we enjoyed our last school day. We talked about different English stereotypes and the history of  Cambridge. We also went to the tourist-information and to the souvenir-shop where we had to get information about different topics. At the end of our lessons we got a "certificate of studies" and took some memory pictures. We think we will miss our teachers and the time in school a lot.. All of them were very friendly and polite and with a lot of speaking exercises our English improved very well.
After school we had a break to buy something for lunch and to do some shopping.
Then at 14:00 we met again in front of the Guildhall. There we visited the mayor's office and some other very important rooms where we could see how and where the politicians enact communal laws.
Afterwards we had some free time again until half 16:30. Then we went to the church in King's College to attend the Evensong and listen to the Scholar Choir. Kings College Chapel was very beautiful and we were deeply impressed. The servicelasted until 18:15. Finally we drove back home
to our host-family in the early evening. There we got a delicious dinner and talked a lot. We went to bed very early because we were very tired and exhausted.
All in all, it was a great day and we really enjoyed it.
