Day 8

This day started quite  early for everybody. No, not actually it started a bit later for two of us because they did not wake up on time, so they missed the train. Luckily, they were able to catch the next one and arrived shortly after the rest of us in London.

Once we had arrived in London, we went to Buckingham Palace to watch the Changing of the Guards. Unfortunatly, there were lots of other people doing the same. Consequently, having a look on the guards was rather difficult.

In the afternoon, we walked to Cambridge Theatre since we had tickets for the musical "MATILDA". Some of us had never seen a musical before, so we were really excited. Our expections were not disappointed. All of us were really amazed by the performance of the actors. You could clearly see that they put a lot of effort into it. For example, the main character suddenly started speaking Russian fluently, although she was a child!

All in all, it was one of the most successful days from our perspective.

LONDON - MUSICAL TIME

GREEN PARK

CAMBRIDGE THEATRE

Until now we have been to London three times and each single time we had a blast.

When we arrived by train , the first difficulty came up. The teachers told us to find the way to Buckingham Palace, the Queen’s “home”, by ourselves instantly. It was very confusing because we had no clue how to get there and which Tube line we should take. Eventually, everyone made it. After that experience we went together as a group through Green park to Buckingham Palace to watch the Changing of the Guards. That was breathtaking because we could not really imagine that that was actually the house the Queen of Great Britain lives in. Unfortunately, the Queen wasn’t about to come out.

Then we walked further on to Trafalgar Square. Luckily, the sun was shining and there was a pleasant temperature, which was very gratifying. When we reached the Leicester Square in the centre of London, we had a break for ourselves so everyone could do what he wanted. At a quarter to two we had to be at the meeting point in order to get to the theatre on time to see the musical Matilda. We were very impressed and astonished by the plot of the story. Especially the young actors convinced us because of their professional acting. Then we walked to the streets of Covent Garden and took a bunch of photos in front of the famous red phone booths. Not everyone was satisfied how the pictures turned out, which was kind of annoying. But in the end, everyone was happy about the pics. Afterwards we went shopping in the Covent Garden area until we took the train back to Cambridge.

It was an exciting day, which will always stay in our minds.
