LONDON

Day 4

An epic trip to London

We got up earlier than on the last days to catch an earlier train to London. After we had arrived at King's Cross train station in London we walked directly to the Underground to get to Westminster Tube Station. On stepping out of the Underground Station, the first thing we saw was a fantastically looking City. Everyone, who had never been to London yet, was impressed and took a lot of pictures! It was just a pity that the clock tower, where the Big Ben is in, is being renovated so we could only see the clock. Before visiting a modern art museum, we had some leisure time so that we could watch a very good street artist. Then we walked on to the Tate Gallery of Modern Art, of which most of us thought that visiting it was completely unnecessary. Then we went further to the famous Tower Bridge, passed the Tower of London and went by tube to Oxford Street, a high street, where we had lunch and were shopping for some gifts. At last we went back to Cambridge by train and were totally happy about this adventurous day!

Mrs Mair had planned our first trip to London for Saturday, April 14th. In the morning all students and teacher met at the Cambridge train station. Everybody was happy because the weather was pretty good. Our train to Kings Cross left at 9:17. Afterwards we took the underground to Westminster and we were all really excited to see all the famous sights like the London Eye, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament etc. After the first impressions and the first photo sessions we visited a famous art museum “TATE MODERN„ where we had to assess the pictures and describe our favourite one. It was already half past two when we arrived at Tower Bridge. Everybody was affected and we took again a lot of photos. On the way to the underground station, two people got lost, so we had to wait for a short time. But Mr. Hofmann found them and we finally arrived at Oxford Street where the most of us spent the afternoon with going shopping or just having a cup of caffe. At about 6 o‘clock we had to get to Kings Cross to take our train back to Cambridge. It was a lovely day, which everyone enjoyed.
