Day 6

PUNTING DAY

Today was a very exciting day. First of all we had to go to school. We learned some very useful terms and phrases like ambidextrous = both hands writing etc. We also interviewed our partners about whether they would like to go to Mars or not.

Many of us said “no” but there some were crazy-minded people who decided, they wanted to go to Mars, which is a fairly risky idea.

It would be very interesting to see what the Mars looks like from a nearby perspective.

Afterwards we went to a nice Pizza restaurant, which was pretty tasty but very expensive. After we had eaten our meal, we went to “Mill Lane” where we met our classmates and our teachers.

We then went into groups of three or six and selected our punts. We had about an hour to show off our skills and our swimming capabilities.

It was a long, difficult and exhausting journey through the river. We saw many ducks, swans and goose but no fish. But the best thing was to punt on your own and to enjoy the tour with your whole class. We enjoyed it very much and would like do it again as soon as possible.

THE OLD MILL WORKS

Mrs. Lebitsch the greatest punter in the world

Our 6th day was probably the most exciting and the funniest of our days in Cambridge.
It startet quite usually.

We got up at 6 am (yes we know that‘s too early!) and after the breakfast we went to the bus. The traffic was horrible on this day so we and many of our classmates had big troubles to arrive at EC-School oin time. We were not too late, but the last part of the way we had to run. Fabian was so exhausted and confused while running that he did not stop at the EC-School. He just stopped, said good morning to Mrs. Mair and continued running. After 30 meters he noticed his mistake and ran back to EC School. It was a bit embarrassing, but it was also funny.
After that Mrs. Mair told us that she had to laugh really hard, because of him.
We had a nice day at EC-School. We were not in the same group, but we learned some interesting things, not jut about the English language.

Afterwards we had lunch in a KFC.

In the afternoon we went PUNTING with our classes.  Punting is floating down a river on a small boat with the help of a paddle and a long stick.

In our punt (a sort of boat) we had Luca, Matteo, Fabian, Julian and also Mrs. Lebitsch. Our punt was the last one which started. In the beginning we struggled a bit but then it became more and more easy to steer. The problem was the wind that was against us , so most of the time we were really slow. Everyone of us took the paddle and steered at least, also Mrs. Lebitsch. We soon noticed what a great punter she is. Her skills are nearly unhuman, she is definitely  the best punter in the world ( and at ofcourse she didn‘t force us to write this down!).

We arrived at the landing stage much later than all the other groups and Mrs. Mair had to pay a lot extra money, but luckily it wasn‘t our fault because we had a teacher who was responsible for us (sorry Mrs. Lebitsch).

The pruning was great fun we have also seen some of the colleges in Cambridge, We were a bit exhausted after punting.

After such hard work, we needed to go KFC again. (We definitely need more of these restaurants in Austria. ) In the evening we went home by bus. At home we had great fun when we told our host family, who are by the way very nice, about our little adventure.

Then we got a bit annoyed that we still hat to write this text. All in all, it was a diverse and great day, which we will never forget.
